Frequently Asked Questions: Q. How far are you from town? A. 2.9 miles.
Q. Do I have to travel on gravel to get to you? A. No, we are on a quiet, paved country road.
Q. Are the cabins private? A. Yes, each has its own area of our 10 acres. You don't have to share grounds with anyone.
Q. Do you have TV reception? A. The Nest has cable; the other cabins have only television set with DVD/VCR and a selection of movies.
Q. Do you have wireless Internet? A. All the cabins have free wireless Internet. If you want to be doing a lot of downloading, the best reception cabins are Willowbrook Garden Cottage, the Nest, and Sunnybrook. Woodhaven has a weaker signal, but you can still pick up your emails and check websites.
Q. Are breakfasts provided? A. No, but all units have kitchens, dishes, utensils, etc. The tradeoff is that although nobody is on site cooking for you, you don't have to have anyone in your space!
Q. What if i have to cancel? A. The $100 deposit holds the reservation until 4 weeks prior to arrival, at which time the balance is due. If you have to cancel, we will try to rebook it, and if we can, we refund all but $35 rebooking fee. During busy seasons, we usually have a waiting list.
Q. What if i need to change my date? A. You can change the date one time during the period up until 4 weeks prior to arrival, with a $35 rebooking fee. During the 4 weeks prior to arrival, the reservation is firmed up; however, if we can rebook the dates, we will change your dates for another time, with a $35 rebooking fee.
Q. Are there good restaurants nearby? A. Mena has some quite good restaurants, all within 5 or 10 minutes' drive.
Q. Are there hiking trails at your cabins? A. No, but we are on a quiet, paved road that makes a very nice walking or running place. If you prefer something more rustic, you can turn off it onto a gravel road that goes into the National Forest.
Q. How far are you from the Wolfpen Gap ATV and hiking trails? A. We are about 8 miles from the West trailhead on Route 375.
Q. Are the Wolfpen Gap trails open year round? A. Yes, except for a short period during late November and early December during gun hunting season.
Q. Do the cabins have BBQ grills? A. Yes.
Q. Do the cabins come furnished with linens? A. Yes.
Q. Do all the cabins have hair dryers? A. Yes.
Q. Do you allow pets? A. Woodhaven Cabin is our pet-friendly cabin.
Q. Are your cabins handicap accessible? A. Not completely. Woodhaven, Sunnybrook, and Willowbrook Garden Cottage have three steps to enter, but then have sleeping accommodations on the main level. The Nest has a stairway to the bedroom. The bathrooms cannot accommodate wheelchairs.
Q. What are the weather seasons? A. We have four seasons, but the winters are mild. We never get frozen ground, but the temperatures may dip into the teens the first week in January, then we head back into moderate temperatures getting ready for daffodils blooming in February. Snow is rare. September and October, April and May, are generally perfect, neither too hot or cold. June, July and August can get hot and dry, making great water sport weather, and we have air conditioning.
